Raja Saab & MSG Makers Approach Telangana HC For Hikes

As the Sankranti film feast is about to kick off in Tollywood, all eyes are now on ticket hikes and early shows for big-budget films like The Raja Saab and Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, which will hit the screens in a span of few days.

With so much money riding on both these films, the producers are keen to secure ticket hikes and permissions for special shows in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to cash in on the heavy rush and demand for movies during the Sankranti festival. They have already applied for permissions from both governments.

Now, the latest update suggests that the producers of both The Raja Saab and Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu have filed special petitions in the Telangana High Court to seek permissions for enhancing ticket prices and screening additional shows during festival to recoup their investment.

Last year, a single bench judge has passed a strict order not to hike movie ticket prices in public interest. The Court has suspended the GOs issued by the Telangana government for granting these privileges to Akhanda 2. It even pulled up the state government for repeatedly ignoring its directions. So, the Telangana government is helpless unless the court issues directions in this regard.

So, both the makers of The Raja Saab and MSVP have filed petitions to cancel those orders and requested the court to direct the State Home secretary to allow hikes and early shows. The counsel representing the producers of both films filed an urgent house motion petition for hearing on Tuesday. But, the Court said it will hear them Wednesday

The outcome of tomorrow’s judgment will decide the box office opening range of both films. If the court considers their petitions and issues favourable orders, the state governments are likely to entertain the filmmakers’ requests.

While The Raja Saab stars pan-India superstar Prabhas in the lead role, MSVP has Megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead role. There are massive expectations on both films and they are expected to take a strong opening in Telugu states.
