Iconic Kannada actress Jayanthi, fondly called as ‘Abhinaya Sharadhe’ has passed away earlier this morning. She died in her sleep. She was 76.
Jayanthi was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru on July 7 when she complained of breathing difficulties. She was put on a ventilator and was in observation all these days. It was also reported that she was recovering well.
Unfortunately, the happiness of her fans didn’t last long as she passed away this morning. Apparently, Jayanthi was suffering from Aasthama for the last 35 years and she was undergoing treatment for the same. Her Krishna Kumar confirmed the death news to the media in the morning.
In a career spanning over six decades, Jayanthi acted in more than 500 films, across various languages like Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Marathi. She was a recipient of seven Kannada State Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards South.
Jayanthi is popular among Telugu audiences for films like Badi Panthulu, Devadasu, Justice Chowdary, Kaliyuga Pandavulu, Swati Kiranam, Pedarayudu, and Kante Koothurne Kanu.
