India’s Day 11 At Olympics: Heartbreaking Moments

On the 11th day at the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian contingent took part only in 4 events. There were hopes on the Hockey team and wrestler Sonam Malik. The Hockey team lost the semi-final against Belgium. Wrestler Sonam Malik, in her Olympic debut, displayed an impressive performance but failed to qualify for the further rounds. Athletics – Javelin Throw:

In Women’s Javelin Throw qualifications, India’s Annu Rani failed to qualify for the finals. India’s Annu Rani’s distance of 54.04m puts her out of contention for the javelin throw final. Her personal best of 63.24m could have gotten her an automatic qualification.

Hockey

In the semi-final against Belgium, India lost the match. India is officially out of the tournament. Everyone wanted India to be in the finals but the team gave its best but they lost because of giving more than 12 penalty corners to the opposite team. India lost the match by 2-5.

Wrestling

In Women’s 62 kg, Sonam Malik from India faced Mongolian wrestler Bolortuya Khurelkhuu. For 5 and a half minutes, Sonam showed her dominance with a lead of 2-0, but in the final 30 seconds, Mangolian wrestler dominated the game by scoring 2 points. Sonam does not have any Repechage chance as Mangolian wrestler also lost her subsequent match.

Athletics – Shotput:

In Men’s Shotput qualification, India’s Tajinderpal Singh Toor could not make it to the final. In his first attempt, he registered a 19.99m mark and made no marks in the second and third attempts. Tajinderpal is OUT of contention for the Final.
