After earning a name in the South film industry, Taapsee Pannu carved a niche for herself in Bollywood as well with her impactful projects at the box office such as Pink, Judwaa 2, and Thappad. During a recent chat at the FICCI Global Young Leaders Summit 2021, Taapsee revealed that A list actors have been hesitant to do films with her.
She said that not only top male actors, but even newcomers used to be hesitant to give a nod in working for a project with her. Taapsee said that one actor refused to do a film and after learning that she will be doing a double role, the actor said ‘ek Taapsee ko sambhalna mushkil hota hai, yahan toh do hain’.
She recalled another incident where an actor was offered a film with her who also happened to be her ex-co-star. “I don’t want to do this film because, actually, the sympathy goes more to the girl in the end” Taapsee quoted the actor’s words. “It was a love story! I told him I expected a little more confidence and a sense of security in an actor like him. He has done way more films and is a bigger star. But that’s the sad truth we are dealing with every day,” the actress said.
She further added that every time she has a meeting with her producers over a list of the top five actors shortlisted for their films, the actors would be the ones who have done just one or two films. “And even they don’t want the role, because the system around them trains them to not do a film in which their role is just 10%,” Taapsee added.
On the work front, Taapsee, who was last seen in Rashmi Rocket, has Shabaash Mith, Looop Lapeta and Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan with Pratik Gandhi in the pipeline.
