It has now come out from the mouth of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan itself that the Ap Government is passing a GO where concessions and opportunities to raise ticket prices will be given to those films that have atleast 20% of their content shot in the state. Is that technically possible?
Of course, among the 80% of the films that release every year in Tollywood will be shot mostly in Hyderabad only while some 5% of the films will have Vizag as the backdrop. Now, YS Jagan’s demand is that even those other 95% of films should have 20% of the film’s content to be shot in Andhra Pradesh.
Actually, shooting a film at a particular place will depend on the story and its backdrop, and that will now force producers to design their stories in a way that the films will have Andhra touch if Jagan’s vision is to be made true.
At the same time, these days most films are shot at Ramoji Film City only and that brings us to the question if Government will build a similar facility in partnership with some private businessmen such that Tollywood will go there for shoots.
We have to see how Tollywood will meet this demand of the YSRCP government now.
