With just a few more hours to go for the first preview of Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR to hit cinemas, here come the final pre-release business figures of the movie.
Definitely, the film has made a staggering business and we have to see how the audience will receive the film and spearhead the distributors and exhibitors to safe shores now.
Reports are indicating that the final Andhra Pradesh and Telangana business of the film touched nearly ₹ 220+ crores and that’s the share the film should recover from there. Karnataka and Tamilnadu theatricals are sold for more than ₹ 40+ crores, while Tamilnadu fetched ₹ 12+ crores. While the Rest of India including Maharashtra, Gujarat and other East Indian states accounted for a sale of ₹ 110+ crores, Overseas business of all the versions touched ₹ 75+ crores. That means the film made nearly ₹ 500 crores just from the theatrical rights.
In all likelihood, the Rajamouli directorial should collect a minimum of ₹ 520 crores “share” to become a safe project for all the parties involved. If it collects ₹ 50-100 crores more, then it will be termed as a hit film while it would become an epic blockbuster if the collection touched ₹ 750+ crores.
Back then Baahubali 2 got sold for ₹ 330+ crores when it comes to worldwide theatrical rights, and the film made nearly ₹ 830 crores share, so it will not be a daunting task for Rajamouli had got the film right with all the ingredients.
