New Beginning Of Kannada Cinema!

The Kannada film industry is also contributing its best to the Indian cinema, but the Kannada movies often go unrecognized. The poor quality of films, outdated commercial potboilers, and unimpressive promotional campaigns never caught the moviegoers’ attention. But, the situation seems to be changing now. With many new-age filmmakers becoming active, the Kannada cinema is glowing.

Another major reason why Kannada cinema did not get its due is that the filmmakers showed the least interest in dubbing their films to other languages. Actors like Puneeth Rajkumar, Rajkumar, Sudeep, Darshan, and others scored big hits, but their successful films were never released in other languages. A handful of films used to release now and then but all of them ended as flops. However, the situation is changed now.

Post the success of the KGF franchise, the Kannada industry is catching the attention of the entire nation. With the film crossing the mark of Rs. 1200 Crs at the box office, the industry stands next to Tollywood in the South.

Following the success of KGF, Rakshit Shetty took his last film, 777 Charlie, to pan-India. The film was welcomed with open arms in most parts of the country, especially in North India.

Now, Sudeep’s Vikanth Rona has already touched the breakeven mark in Telugu states and is emerging as a hit in many other places where it was released. Until recently, Kollywood films used to catch the limelight, but now Kannada cinema is ruling the roost.

If the Kannada filmmakers continue focusing on other markets consistently and produce quality films with interesting promotional campaigns, there is no doubt that Kannada cinema has a big potential to gain its glory.
