Brahmastra: A litmus test for Ranbir Kapoor’s career

Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most popular actors in the Hindi film industry. With films like Wake Up Sid, Azab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Barfi, Rockstar, Ye Jawani Hai Deewani and Sanju, he proved to be a versatile actor.

However, Ranbir took a gap of more than four years after Sanju. In the meantime, many of his contemporaries scored hits and became bankable actors in the industry.

After a gap of four years, he came up with Shamshera, which was released a couple of months ago. It ended up as one of the biggest disasters of this year. Now, Ranbir is testing his luck with Brahmastra.

Brahmastra was made on a budget of more than Rs. 400 crores, making it one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema. Ranbir needs to score a hit with this film to come back to the success track. Already, all big films of this year failed in Hindi. So, everyone’s attention is on Brahmastra. The whole of Bollywood is praying for its success.

But the poor VFX has been a letdown for many people while watching the trailer. Also, there is the Boycott gang which is trending negative things about the film on social media. The expectations among the audience are not great as well. Ranbir has to cross all these hurdles and score a success. Otherwise, his career may get affected pretty hard.

Directed by Ayan Mukherjee, Brahmastra features Alia Bhatt as the leading lady. It is slated for a worldwide release on September 9.
