Virat Kohli and his fans’ long wait for the 71st century ended today. After a gap of more than two and a half years, Kohli scored an international hundred. He achieved this incredible feat against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 game tonight. India won this match by 101 runs.
In the absence of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli opened the innings today with KL Rahul. From the start, he showed a positive intent and fans got to see him in great form. He made a partnership of 119 runs with Rahul and 87 runs with Rishab Pant. In the process, he scored his maiden T20I century. Kohli’s score of 122* (61 balls – 12 fours and 6 sixes) is the highest individual score for any Indian cricketer in the T20I format.
With this century, Virat now has 71 international hundreds under his belt. He now equals the record with former Australian player Ricky Ponting and stands only behind the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.
While Virat stole the show on the batting front, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who grabbed the attention on the bowling front. His career-best spell (4-1-4-5) broke the batting order of Afghanistan and helped India in getting the opponents to end up with a score of 111-8 while chasing a target of 213.
Anyway, we congratulate Virat on this incredible hundred and we wish to see more of them coming from his bat from now on. Virat 2.0 is now on!
