Tollywood 2022: Those films becoming Gold Mines for Producers

Telugu states have always been a good market for dubbed films. Since the first generation, many dubbed films went on to become blockbusters in Telugu. In the recent past, we have seen a decline in this trend.

For the last few years, dubbed movies have failed to create an impact in Tollywood. Finally, 2022 turned out to be a fruitful year for dubbed films in Telugu.

Earlier this year, we have seen KGF Chapter:2 creating a storm at the box office. We can keep it aside because there was a huge pre-release buzz for this movie.

If we take other films, Vikram was the other film that went on to become a blockbuster in Telugu. Actor Nithiin’s father, Sudhakar Reddy, acquired the Telugu rights to this movie. He earned more than double profits with this Kamal Haasan-starrer action thriller.

Later, Dil Raju acquired the Telugu rights of Ponniyin Selvan. It was a moderate success in the Telugu states.

Then came Kantara, which was bought by Allu Aravind for a nominal price of Rs. 2 crores. Now, it earned more than Rs. 25 crores gross at the box office. It is a sensational blockbuster in Telugu too. Although Allu Aravind failed to score a hit with Lal Singh Chaddha, Kantara emerged as a big blockbuster.

Finally, King Nagarjuna also scored a hit with a dubbed film. He acquired the Telugu rights to Karthi’s new film Sardar. This spy thriller was released last Friday during the Diwali festive weekend. Upon its release, Sardar got a good reception from the audience and became a super hit in both Tamil and Telugu.

On the whole, top producers of Tollywood got fruitful results with dubbed flicks this year. Sometimes, it is a good thing to test dubbing films as it’s easy money for them. This also indicates that stiff competition can be witnessed in the coming days to bag the rights to dubbing films.Tollywood: Dubbing films becoming Gold Mines for Producers.
