Bollywood’s remake of Allu Arjun and Trivikram’s superhit film “Ala Vaikuntapurramlo” hasn’t resulted in any crazy boxoffice stunts as the film fell flat even on a big holiday like Maha Sivarathri. Though Saturday and Sunday collections are a bit higher than Day 1, Karthik Aryan’s “Shehzada” managed to collect only ₹20+ crores nett in the first weekend, and that explains everything.
With this happening, Shehzada has joined the likes of HIT and Jersey, which are the remakes of superhit Telugu films, thus making a hat-trick of super flops. Back to back in a row, these three movies tumbled at the box office without any clue and it set wondering film lovers what is actually going wrong. In fact, when the Telugu directors themselves carved HIT and Jersey in Hindi, the original soul of their original Telugu creation was missing in the Hindi version. This to an extent could be imparted to the actors who played the lead roles. Same is the case with Shehzada as well as the dramatics of Allu Arjun couldn’t be replicated there.
Though Drishyam 2 has stunned the Bollywood audience as well, we should credit both Ajay Devgan and his director for making that possible as their narrative is more gripping and simply riveting than the original. Now, Bollywood wants to see how Ajay’s Khaidi remake “Bhola” will do at the box office there.
