Bimbisara wins best film and best actor awards

Against all odds, Kalyan Ram’s period drama Bimbisara struck gold at the box office and turned out to be a blockbuster. The film was a sigh of relief during crunch time when Tollywood is struggling with a string of flops.

Now, the film has begun its phenomenon by winning awards. At the 25th Ugadi Awards ceremony hosted by Srikalasudha Telugu Association on Wednesday, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram won best actor and the film won best film. Many celebrities attended the ceremony at Music Academy in Rayapeta, Chennai.

Last year, Bimbisara was a huge money spinner at the box office. The film’s success has brought a huge sigh of relief to the entire industry, which has been plagued by a string of flops. The film’s popularity spread to OTT platforms as well. Kalyan Ram is overjoyed with the film’s success, and he expressed his joy after receiving the award. The actor is currently busy with the shoot of Devil.

The film has fantasy elements including time travel as the core of its plot with the story taking place in two timelines, in the present day and the 5th century BC. Directed by Mallidi Vashishta, the film is produced by Kalyan Ram under the NTR Arts banner. The film stars Catherine and Samyukta Menon in lead roles.
