Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaran is known for his gritty and powerful films like Aadukalam, Visaranai, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. After a long gap, he is now back with his new film, Viduthalai Part 1. Starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, this movie was released on March 31.
Soori is a comedian, and when it was announced that Vetri is making a film with him, everyone was surprised. Soori plays the role of a constable in it. Viduthalai is set in a period backdrop and deals with caste discrimination and unknown atrocities that happen within the police department. It showcases how innocents get labeled as Naxalites and terrorists.
Right from premieres, Viduthalai got a thumping response from critics as well as the audience. People are calling it one of the best works of Vetri. Going by reports, it looks like the director is back with a bang.
The Telugu dubbed version of Viduthalai will hit the screens on April 7. Let’s see if it can repeat the magic in Telugu as well.
