While both actors generally enjoyed a favourable response from Indian fans, they did draw some criticism for their attempts at imitating the American accent during their interviews. And now it’s the turn of queen bee Samantha to face similar criticism.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan recently made headlines in London while attending the original series premiere of Citadel, as they are starring in the Indian spin-off of the same series. The spicy hottie took advantage of this opportunity to do press interviews in the UK, and her US accent caught netizens’ attention. Unfortunately, some people decided to take it upon themselves to make inappropriate comparisons between her accent and that of other actors such as Jr NTR and Ram Charan.
One user tweeted, “I adore her a lot but the way she is faking her accent. She should have spoken in an Indian accent only.” Another one called the video, “Cringe.” Earlier this month, Samantha received public criticism over her failed movie Shaakuntalam and her dubbing accent with a gym-toned body. Fans are hoping that her upcoming releases of Indian versions of Citadel and Kushi’s movie success will silence all the controversies surrounding her.
