The Supreme Court of India has rejected a plea challenging the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) certification of the upcoming film “The Kerala Story”.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala, declined to hear the petition and instead urged the petitioners to approach the High Court.
The Court stated that if the film is good, people will watch it, and if not, they won’t. The Kerala High Court had previously refused to stay the release of the film, and the Supreme Court has now declined to hear a challenge to the CBFC’s clearance. The film is set to be released in cinemas on May 5 and depicts the alleged brainwashing of young women into joining the Islamic State.
