Chay’s Custody Inspired By A Malayalam Hit

Director Venkat Prabhu is known for making films that are not conventional. He is coming to the Telugu audience directly for the first time with Naga Chaitanya’s Custody. though many of his Tamil films were dubbed in Telugu.

The Custidy director reveals the list of films he wanted to make in Telugu with heroes here parallelly with his Tamil version but missed. Venkat Prabhu was supposed to make a film with Nagarjuna. Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha with Ajith was planned to be made in Telugu with Nagarjuna in the lead, but it did not materialize.

Even his latest hot Maanadu was to be made with a Telugu hero and for some reason that did not happen. Venkat Prabhu says he is finally relieved that he could make an entry with Naga Chaitanya’s Custody.

The director reveals that a Malayalam movie Nayattu inspired him in making ‘Custody’ and he took the plot point from it and made it from a commercial point of view. Venkat Prabhu wanted to make it with Naga Chaitanya after watching a song from the film Love Story. Chay obliged and the Custody happened.

It is already known that Naga Chaitanya did not approve of the title ‘Shiva’.
