Operation ‘Cost Cutting’ For Matka?

Mega Prince Varun Tej has been going through a rough phase for the last few years. His last few films have ended up as disasters at the box office. Varun’s market has come down with the failures of Ghani and Ghandeevadhari Arjuna. Now, his latest film Operation Valentine, also ended up as a big failure.

Shockingly, it got fewer collections than the former two films. These consistent failures have now affected Varun’s upcoming film Matka. Touted to be a period gangster drama, Matka is set in the 1960s-1980s backdrop. Varun reportedly plays the role of a gangster in the movie. Already, the film’s production has been changed in the past.

Now, the downfall in Varun’s market value is affecting its budget. As it is a period film and features a big cast and crew, makers initially planned to picture Matka with a big budget. However, with the decline in Varun’s market value, cost-cutting is being made in the production of the movie.

On top of it, director Karuna Kumar is yet to score a big hit at the box office. Both his films, Palasa and Sridevi Soda Center haven’t achieved success at the box office. His track-record and Varun’s market value are now affecting Matka.
