A tragic accident occurred on the sets of the Tamil film Sardar 2, resulting in the death of a stuntman named Ezhumalai. The movie features Karthi in the lead role. While filming an action scene, Ezhumalai fell from a height of 20 feet and sustained severe injuries.
The film’s production house, Prince Pictures, released an official statement regarding the same. It was stated that Elumalai worked as a stunt rig man on the sets of Sardar 2. The team stated that after wrapping up the shoot on Monday, Elumalai accidentally fell from a rostrum of 20 feet high and sustained injuries.
“He was immediately rushed to the nearby multi-speciality hospital where he was treated by a team of doctors. However, at around 11.30 pm, despite intensive medical treatment, Elumalai unfortunately passed away,” the press note read.
After the accident, the film’s shooting was immediately halted. The makers informed the police and the investigation is currently underway. Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 features SJ Suryah in a key role. The shooting of this movie began in Chennai on July 15. The accident occurred just two days after the start of the shoot. Sardar 2 is a sequel to Sardar, which was released in 2022.
The movie features Karthi in a dual role. Meanwhile, it is high time for the makers to take the necessary precautions to prevent such deadly accidents on the sets. Earlier, three crew members died on the sets of Indian 2 when a crane accidentally fell on them.
