Renowned Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Padma Bhushan’ award, which is the third-highest civilian award in India. Balakrishna has been bestowed with this honour today as the government of India announced the Padma Awards ahead of the Republic Day. Balakrishna has been given this award for his services in the field of art.
A total of 139 Padma Awards were announced today, out of which 113 were Padma Shri, 19 were Padma Bhushan and seven were Padma Vibhushan. While Balakrishna has been awarded Padma Bhushan from Andhra Pradesh, Dr Duvvuri Nageshwar Reddy has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan from Telangana for his services in the field of medicine and health care.
