With the change in governments, the situations have also changed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, concerning the Telugu film industry. Earlier, the makers of Telugu films used to get hikes in Telangana but not in Andhra Pradesh. The situation turned around now.
Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi-starrer Thandel is set for a grand release on February 7. Thanks to the superhit album, there is huge anticipation created around the movie.
Given the rising expectations for the movie, the makers applied for a ticket price hike in Andhra Pradesh. As requested, the Government of Andhra Pradesh approved Rs. 50 hike for the movie in AP, which is quite reasonable.
However, there is no hike in Telangana’s ticket rates due to the recent incidents which involved Pushpa 2’s stampede, benefit show allocation and other following events.
With the hike given in Andhra and Rayalaseema, Thandel will most likely cross the breakeven mark if it gets positive word of mouth. However, it has to be seen what will be the collections in Telangana.
Recently, Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj managed to cross the breakeven mark in Ceeded and Andhra but not in Telangana.
Reportedly, Thandel has to collect a share of around Rs. 40 crores to cross the breakeven mark. Thus, a super-positive word of mouth is extremely needed for Thandel to put all its buyers in a safe place.
