Murugadoss Draws Parallels Between Madharaasi & Ghajini

Kollywood director AR Murugadoss is in desperate need of a hit. After the 2014 blockbuster, Kaththi, all of Murugadoss’ films – Spyder, Sarkar, Darbar, and the recently released Sikandar, ended up being loss ventures. The director has pinned high hopes on his upcoming actioner, Madharaasi, starring Amaran hero Sivakarthikeyan and Kannada beauty Rukmini Vasanth in lead roles.

Ever since the Madharaasi title was made official, there has been widespread speculation that Murugadoss is coming up with an intense political drama this time around. However, in a recent interview, Murugadoss revealed that Madharaasi will be an action film that’s driven by love, something along the lines of his cult classic Ghajini, where the protagonist’s revenge is driven by the love story.

While Murugadoss maintained secrecy about Madharaasi featuring a political backdrop, his comparison between Ghajini and Madharaasi did raise expectations. And with an in-form star like Sivakarthikeyan and the young sensation Rukmini Vasanth as the core of Madharaasi, Murugadoss seems to be cooking something really exciting for fans.

Anirudh Ravichander, the star composer who has been making a lot of noise with back-to-back chartbuster soundtracks, has composed Madharaasi’s music, and the songs will be out very soon. The film is slated to release on September 5th.
