Director AR Murugadoss is back in the action now as he is busy with the promotions of his next film Madharasi. Starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, the film is billed to be the director’s comeback film. In the recent times, he began promoting the film and during one of the interviews, the director opened up on the failure of his last film Sikandar.
“The base story of the film is very close to me. Sikandar has a very good story. In general, we do not value the relationships much. But, if one of our friends disappears, we will start thinking about what should be done. Similarly, after the wife’s death, things will change completely. The entire village turns into a family. The way I thought about the film is different, but how it is shaped is completely different. I could not execute well, and I am not the only one responsible for the film’s failure,” he said.
Additionally, when asked if he has a similar opinion for the films that became successful, like Ghajini, he has a different viewpoint. “Ghajini is a remake. With Aamir Khan, I am very happy. I already worked on the film one, and if you have a command that agrees with you completely, it will be different. If I do something and audiences reject it, I will understand. But, if what shapes up is not what I desired, it will not impact me,” he said.
Murugadoss clearly hinted that Sikandar was not in his control and he could not translate the film well on the screen as he did not have complete support. Hence, he is not regretting the film’s failure to which he thinks he is not the only person responsible.
Up next is Madarasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, in the direction of AR Murugadoss.
