Usually, filmmakers try to raise expectations about their movies. But it is rare to see makers trying to reduce the hype. This is something often noticed in the Malayalam industry. For example, when the film Lokah unexpectedly received huge hype, Kalyani and team asked the audience not to expect too much.
Now, Drishyam franchise director Jeethu Joseph is following the same path. His films with Mohanlal, Drishyam and Drishyam 2, created history. The first film broke all records in the Malayalam film industry, while the second, released directly on OTT during the Covid period, also received an excellent response. Naturally, this built massive expectations on Drishyam 3.
With the script ready and shooting to begin soon, Jeethu Joseph has already issued warnings to the audience. Once again, he has asked viewers not to compare the new film with the earlier two. He said it will be different and that those expecting highly intense scenes, like in the first parts, may end up disappointed.
In Drishyam and Drishyam 2, the highlights were Mohanlal’s brilliant mind games and the unexpected twists. Viewers are naturally expecting similar episodes in the new part. However, Jeethu has clarified that this time the emotional angle will be stronger than the twists and thrills.
Whether this shift will satisfy the audience remains to be seen. But fans believe that Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal will once again create magic on screen and deliver another big success.
