Actress Meena recently spoke about her late friend Soundarya and a moment she has kept private for years. In an interview with actor Jagapathi Babu on the show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, Meena revealed that she was invited to travel with Soundarya on the flight to Andhra Pradesh in 2004.
Soundarya and her brother Amarnath were going to attend a BJP election campaign when the plane crashed near Bengaluru. Both of them died in the accident. Meena said, “The news of Soundarya’s death was a big shock. I have not fully recovered from it even after all these years.”
Meena added that she declined the invitation because she was not interested in politics. “I was supposed to go with Soundarya, but I said I had a shoot. I was very sad when I heard what happened,” she said.
Talking about her friendship with Soundarya, Meena said, “We were very close. She was a wonderful person and very talented. The competition between us was always healthy.”
The two actresses worked together in several films. Soundarya’s sudden death left a big gap in Telugu cinema. She was reportedly pregnant at the time of the crash. Meena’s story reminds fans of the close bond she shared with Soundarya and how sudden and tragic the loss was.
