In Indian cinema, only a few directors have managed to deliver massive box office openings. SS Rajamouli tops the list, with Baahubali 2 collecting around ₹220 crore worldwide on its first day, followed by RRR, which collected ₹223 crore. These films set new benchmarks for Telugu cinema in the country.
Prashanth Neel also made a strong impact with back-to-back hits. KGF 2 collected ₹162 crore on opening day, and Salaar collected around ₹175 crore worldwide. The success of these two films made him one of the leading action directors in the country.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has also been consistent at the box office. His films Leo and Co–lie opened with ₹145 crore and ₹151 crore worldwide, respectively.
Now, young director Sujeeth is joining this elite group. After the success of Saaho, which earned ₹130 crore worldwide on opening day, his new film They Call Him OG is already creating a lot of buzz. Pre-sales have crossed ₹100 crore worldwide, and estimates suggest the opening day could reach ₹130–150 crore worldwide.
Achieving back-to-back ₹100 crore opening days is not easy, and only four directors in India have done it so far. Sujeeth now joins Rajamouli, Neel, and Lokesh in this elite league. For the young filmmaker, OG’s success will be an important milestone, further establishing him as one of India’s most promising directors.
They Call Him OG stars Pawan Kalyan, Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj. The film is directed by Sujeeth, with music by Thaman S, and produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under DVV Entertainments.
