In a recent interview, director Prem Kumar addressed these speculations, stating that the rumors are untrue. Vijay Sethupati and Prem Kumar combination delivered a big hit and the fans always wanted them to collaborate again, especially for the sequel of 96. In the process, the rumors surfaced after Prem completed the writing.

Talking about these rumors, Prem said, “#96Part2 Script has been completed & it’s my best writing so far. Friends said, ‘It is far better than 96’. When IshariGanesh sir heard the script, he gave a gold chain worth several lakhs. I will do with the same cast (or) I won’t do it.”

Most likely, the earlier commitments and the availability of the entire team becomes a deciding factor in taking the project forward.
