Kantara: Chapter 1 was released yesterday with slight negativity and amidst the cancellation of premieres. However, the makers are happy with the positive reception from the audience. The release day revenue so far confirms that the team had a good day at the theatres, considering the pre-release buzz. Rishab Shetty and his team have exceeded the expectations of the audience with the prequel to Kantara.
As per the trade pundits, the worldwide estimate of the first day’s revenue is reportedly more than 90 Cr rupees gross, with the majority of the percent coming from the Kannada version, followed by the Hindi Version, Telugu version, Malayalam version, and Tamil version.
Even the second day of release is also witnessing a flying start. As of now, BookMyShow is witnessing a massive trend of advance sales of more than 50k tickets per hour. With today being the weekend and a holiday for many, the audiences are actively looking to catch the film with families, since it got a hit talk. 1.28 M tickets were sold yesterday, and the early trend today suggests that another million tickets will be sold today.
Even though the trailer didn’t create a big buzz, the hangover of the film’s first part’s impact, and the festival advantage worked big time for the movie. If the same trend continues, Kantara: Chapter 1 will also emerge as a big blockbuster in the Telugu states.
In India, the Hindi version leads over Kannada in net collections; if positive buzz continues, it could break records.
