Tollywood Box Office: October Starts on a Good Note

Tollywood witnessed the most lucrative box office season of the year this September. After experiencing relatively long dull phase due to lack of big hits during Summer followed by the disappointing outcome from Independence Day releases, trade circles heaved a sigh of relief with back-to-back hits in September.

While small film ‘Little Hearts’ emerged as a sleeper hit after enjoying a tremendous run by collecting more than 35 Crores gross, Teja sajja starrer Mirai struck gold at the box office with its stupendous performance despite facing competition from other films. The fantasy drama notched up 150 Crores gross and cheered its buyers. Kishkindhapuri also made a decent impact at the box office with its impressive revenues. The biggest takeaway came in the form of ‘OG’ storm. The Pawan Kalyan starrer turned out to be the highest grossing film of the year by surpassing the 250 Crores mark in seven days.

The filip given by these hits has revitalized the Tollywood box office and set the tone for a promising last quarter of the year which will see plenty of much anticipated releases. There are bunch of notable films which are going to test their luck this October.

Kantara Chapter 1, which released for Dussehra amid high expectations, started off on a terrific note at the box office. As the reviews and word of mouth are decent enough, there are good chances for the film to have a strong run in the first weekend in both Telugu states as OG has already slowed down during the weekdays.

So, October has started on a positive note. All eyes will be on upcoming releases like Mass Jathara, Telusu Kada, K – Ramp, Dude and Mithra Mandali.

While Mass Jathara will cap the month by releasing on the last day, remaining films are targeting Diwali festival. Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Telusu Kada has grabbed the eyeballs of moviegoers with its heartwarming teasers and songs. Kiran Abbavaram’s K-Ramp garnered attention with its youthful content. Pradeep Ranganathan, who impressed Telugu audiences with his previous two outings Love Today and Return of Dragon, will aim for a hattrick with Dude. Priyadarshi’s Mithra Mandali is also in the fray.

Overall, it will be a jam-packed October for Tollywood. What remains to be seen is whether the success streak will extend from September to October or not ?
