Filming at real locations can be unpredictable, and crews often face unexpected challenges. This was seen recently on the sets of Mandaadi, the upcoming Tamil film starring Soori and Suhas.
On Friday, a boat carrying the film crew’s RED digital camera, valued at around Rs 60 lakh, overturned near the coast of Thondi in Ramanathapuram district. All crew members on board escaped safely, but the camera sank in the sea.
The film has a unique bilingual approach. In the Tamil version, Soori plays the lead and Suhas is the villain. In the Telugu version, Suhas takes the lead, and Soori plays the antagonist. The project is creatively produced by Vetrimaaran.
The incident shows the risks involved in shooting on open water. Incidents like this show why big films often prefer shooting on controlled sets rather than risky locations. Despite the setback, the team is expected to continue filming, taking precautions to avoid similar accidents.
Mandaadi marks Suhas’s debut in Tamil cinema. The film is written and directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi and produced by Elred Kumar under RS Infotainment. Alongside Soori and Suhas, the cast includes Sathyaraj, Mahima Nambiar, Ravindra Vijay, Achyuth Kumar and Sachana Namidass.
