Kantara: Chapter 1, headlined by Kannada star Rishab Shetty, continues its impressive run at the box office all over the country even in its third week. The prequel to 2022 blockbuster released on October 2nd amid high expectations and took a fantastic opening in all territories due to strong pre-release hype and mesmerizing visuals in the trailers.
While the film created history in Kannada language by emerging as the biggest grosser ever for Karnataka state with 200 Crores gross in 18 days, it performed exceptionally well in Telugu states and North circuit. With the release of new films for Diwali, the theatrical run of Telugu version has almost ended. But, the Hindi version continues to rake in promising numbers due to lack of competition in Bollywood.
Even in the third weekend, the period folklore action drama saw strong footfalls in North India and added an impressive haul worth more than 15 Crores net from its Hindi version including Diwali holiday to take the overall tally close to 180 Crores in 19 days. The film is now on track to surpass the 200 Crores mark in its full run with its Hindi version.
Meanwhile, Rashmika’s much awaited horror comedy drama Thamma, which created a strong buzz with its engaging content in teasers and trailers, is set for a good opening all over North India on Tuesday. The film is likely to have a wide release all over and register promising numbers on the first day.
With Kantara Chapter 1 dominating the Bollywood box office for nearly three weeks, trade circles are awaiting to see if Thamma can stop its dominance from Tuesday. If Thamma secures decent word of mouth, there are chances that the impressive run of Kantara Chapter 1 will come to a end.
