It’s a packed weekend for South Indian cinema, with several major releases hitting both theatres and OTT platforms. Giving audiences a wide range of choices, this weekend promises strong entertainment for South Indian audiences both in theatres and at home.
Leading the list is Baahubali: The Epic, a special re-edited version combining both Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion into one film. Starring Prabhas, the remastered version will release in theatres worldwide on October 31, with paid premieres on October 30 across Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara is another big theatrical release this weekend. The Telugu action comedy packs high-energy entertainment with a mix of humour, romance, and mass appeal. It releases on November 1, with early paid premieres the previous evening.
Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal’s Aaryan follows an investigation-driven story filled with suspense, marking Vishnu’s return to the thriller space after Ratsasan. The Tamil version releases on October 31, while the Telugu version hits screens on November 7.
On OTT, Rishab Shetty’s box-office blockbuster Kantara: Chapter 1 takes viewers into folklore and mythology once again. The film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video from October 31 in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
Also arriving on October 31 is Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, a Malayalam superhero fantasy led by Kalyani Priyadarshan. It will stream in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi on Jio Hotstar.
Adding a softer touch to the weekend, Dhanush’s Idli Kadai, which he both stars in and directs, offers a heartwarming drama. It is streaming on Netflix from October 29 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
