Ravi Teja’s Flop Streak Continues, When Will It Break?

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, who was once a poster boy for commercial films in Tollywood, is struggling to keep his mass image intact due to consecutive box office failures. After scoring successive hits with Dhamaka and Waltair Veerayya, Ravi Teja delivered back-to-back duds with Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, Eagle and Mr. Bachchan. 

His latest film Mass Jathara, which promised to bring back his vintage mannerisms going by the teasers and trailers, seems to heading towards a huge disaster after its release on Saturday. The film, which was deferred several times due to production delays and other reasons, finally hit the screens amid decent expectations. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to the hype due to the formulaic script and cliched narration sans any novelty. 

Besides Ravi Teja’s energetic performance and a couple of appealing songs and fight sequences, the film could not offer much to moviegoers and received a flop talk on the very first day itself. Moreover, the opening collections also disappointed the trade circles as they are not up to the mark. This is likely to be the fifth flop in a trot for Ravi Teja in two years. 

As per reports, the film collected around 7 Crores India net on the first day and the Overseas numbers are also turning out very poor in all territories. The release of Baahubali: The Epic also impacted the collections of Mass Jathara to some extent. 

Ravi Teja will need to rethink about his choice of scripts in order to adapt to the latest trend if he wants to pull audience to theatres. He cannot simply rely on his mass image and continue dishing out outdated commercial potboilers just to entertain only one section of audience.

Up next, he will be coming with wholesome entertainer during the Sankranti festival with sensible director Kishore Tirumala’s film. It is reportedly titled Bhakta Mahaseyalaku Vignapthi. He will need to deliver a big hit and stage a strong comeback to stay in the contention.
