Fans are gradually losing patience with the new pattern of film promotions in Telugu cinema. The trend of giving an “update to update of an update” has now become common, with every small move treated like a major announcement. What started as a marketing tactic to build excitement has now turned into something that many feel is testing their patience.
A recent example is Akhanda 2. The makers first announced on November 4 that an update would arrive on November 5. Then, on November 5, they revealed that a song promo would release on November 7. Finally, the actual song release was set for November 9. Fans are asking, did all this teasing really need four separate announcements just for one song release?
This pattern isn’t limited to big films alone. Even smaller films, which don’t have a massive fan base waiting for updates, are following the same formula. Every stage of a film’s promotion, from “poster loading” to “glimpse coming soon”, is being stretched out over days or even weeks.
Fans say this approach misuses their patience and creates unnecessary hype that rarely matches the final content. By the time the real update arrives, expectations are so high that even good content feels underwhelming. Many viewers now feel that these layered announcements lead to disappointment, not excitement.
Industry observers believe filmmakers are using this method to keep their films trending online and sustain buzz for a longer period. However, this constant teasing risks backfiring. The more you overpromise, the more you risk underdelivering.
The growing backlash on social media shows one clear message; fans want substance, not suspense. They’re asking filmmakers to stop dragging out updates and instead share meaningful content that lives up to the anticipation they create.
