Tamannaah’s Big Shift – From Glamour Roles To Biopic

Tamannaah has become busy in the Hindi film industry these days. Mostly, she has been doing item numbers in Bollywood biggies. Now, she shifted gears and is playing an important role in an upcoming Hindi biopic.

Tamannaah is playing the role of yesteryear Hindi and Marathi actress Jayshree Gadkar in the biographical drama of legendary director V. Shantaram. For the unversed, Jayashree was the second wife of Shantaram.

The makers have released Tamannaah’s first look poster from the film today, where she was seen posing in an elegant saree in the typical vintage movie setup. She looks beautiful in the poster, giving a true vintage actress vibe. Sharing the poster, the team wrote, “Jayashree – The star of an era. The strength behind a legacy. A chapter returning to history.”

So far in her career, Tamannaah has mostly done glamorous roles. Of late, she has been doing item songs mostly in films like Stree 2, Raid 2 and Ba***ds of Bollywood. Now, she has bagged a potentially author-backed role in this biopic.

So, it remains to be seen how she convinces audiences with her performance after doing glamorous roles and item songs continuously. Whenever she got a strong role, Tamannaah proved her mettle. Thus, we can expect her to deliver a solid performance in Shantaram’s biopic as well.

Directed by Abhijeet Sirish Deshpande, V. Shantaram features Siddhanth Chaturvedi in the lead role.
