Karthi Says Annagaru Vostaru Is Set in a Grand Fictional World

Tamil actor Karthi’s 27th film, Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and produced by KE Gnanavelraja under Studio Green, is gearing up for a grand release in December. The film releasing as Annagaru Vostaru in Telugu.

The movie features Krithi Shetty as the lead actress, along with Shilpa Manjunath, Rajkiran, Anand Raj, Sathyaraj, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, Vidhya Borgia, Nivas Adthitan and Madhur Mittal in significant roles.

As the film approaches its release, the team has intensified promotions, including a grand pre-release event in Hyderabad attended by Sundeep Kishan, Bunny Vas, and several prominent directors such as Deva Katta, Shiva Nirvana, Vivek Athreya, Bobby, Venky Kudumula, and Rahul Ravindran.

During the event, Karthi spoke about the film’s vision, explaining that it revolves around the deep admiration audiences have for their heroes—an admiration that can sometimes turn into devotion. He highlighted that the director crafted the movie as a tribute to the mass commercial cinema of the 70s and 80s, which naturally demanded a hero with a larger-than-life presence. Drawing comparisons to cultural icons like NTR and MGR, he said the film imagines what it would be like if such influential, almost superhero-like figures emerged again in today’s world.

Karthi further praised director Nalan Kumarasamy, noting that this marks his return after eight years and that many Telugu filmmakers deeply respect his work. He described the fictional world of the film as grand and challenging, adding that stepping into such a role pushed him creatively and allowed him to grow as an actor. Confident in both the uniqueness of the story and his performance, he expressed that projects of this scale are rare and reaffirmed his commitment to choosing fresh and innovative films for the audience.

Set for a December 12th, 2025 theatrical release, the film marks Nalan Kumarasamy’s return to direction after a four-year gap. Marketed as an action-packed entertainer, the film promises an immersive viewing experience, enhanced by Santhosh Narayanan’s powerful score and Karthi’s commanding screen presence.
