‘Razakar Was Made By BJP With Political Agenda’

Director Venu Udugula recently turned a producer for the film Raju weds Rambai. The film has become a big hit, and he is on a roll to come up with more films. Meanwhile, Venu recently interacted with us, Gulte Pro, sharing his views on the film industry. An interesting remark he made concerns the film Razakar. Venu felt that it was a propaganda film, pushed forward by the BJP.

Speaking about the reality the film showcased, Venu argued that it did not reflect reality but instead pushed propaganda. “I believe the BJP made the Razakar with a POLITICAL AGENDA. I do not think the film was made with genuine respect or responsibility toward history,” he said.

Now, this statement sparked a huge debate in the film circles. While some of the audience agreed with him, some didn’t, as they argued that the Razakars tortured many villagers at that time.

Moreover, Venu made this statement without actually watching the movie. Venu said he has problems with certain aspects of the film, but admitted he hasn’t watched it. While some others condemned his words, he made films like Virata Parvam, which portrayed Naxalism in a positive tone. The director faced criticism then as well.

Venu Udugula has a certain ideology of communism and he always differs with those who has a propaganda which they try to push forward with the help of movies. His recent comments would invite more criticism towards him and we have to see how he deals with it.
