2025 offered a slight disappointment for Tollywood on pan-India front because some big-ticket films which were tipped to perform well beyond Telugu states failed to make any noticeable impact in other languages. Even Kollywood managed to deliver a film in the prestigious 500 Crore club with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which was a flop.
After COVID pandemic, Tollywood has delivered consecutive pan-India blockbusters every year except 2025. Though films like OG and Sankranti ki Vastunnam grossed over 300 Crores, much hyped pan-India movies like Game Changer and Akhanda 2 tanked heavily in North India.
As a result, Bollywood dominated the Indian box office with surprise blockbusters like Chhaava, Saiyaara, and the recent sensation Dhurandhar, all of which enjoyed tremendous runs that were not widely expected before their releases.
Now, 2026 promises to be one of the most highly anticipated years in recent times for Tollywood because a spate of pan-India biggies are going to test their luck at the box office. Starting from Prabhas’ upcoming horror comedy drama The Raja Saab, there will be several marquee films gearing up for release throughout the year.
Among those with huge expectations all over the country are NTR-Neel’s action drama Dragon(Rumoured title), Ram Charan’s rustic actioner Peddi, Nani’s The Paradise, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s long delayed fantasy adventure Vishwambhara and Prabhas’ war-drama Fauzi.
Even Sandeep Reddy’s Spirit with Prabhas is also in contention for 2026 release even though there is no clarity get on the date. Other prominent films like Balakrishna – Gopichand Malineni project and Nikhil’s ambitious period drama Svayambhu are also going to target the pan-India market.
After a disappointing 2025, Tollywood will now look to make amends in 2026 and retain its pan-India clout with these many big-budget films. Most of these movies have the potential to resonate with audiences across the country and emerge as box office hits beyond Tollywood.
