Veteran Telugu film producer Anil Sunkara has made an honest revelation about box office collection posters and how they are used in the film industry. He stated that such posters are mainly released as a publicity strategy rather than a reflection of real profits.
Anil Sunkara, who produced the blockbuster Dookudu starring Mahesh Babu, explained that during the film’s success celebrations, the team released posters claiming 100 crore gross collections. However, he clarified that gross collections do not represent the actual earnings of producers.
He said that while Dookudu collected around 100 crore in gross, the producer share was only about 40 crore. Since most people do not understand the difference between gross and share, these big numbers help in creating hype around the film.
According to him, many producers used collection posters as a publicity stunt, and it did help movies in the short term. But over time, this strategy started misfiring in some cases. Because of this, Anil Sunkara revealed that he personally stopped releasing such collection posters for his films.
