Hotshot Kollywood director Lokesh Kanagaraj has been frequently making headlines these days. The recent announcement of his much anticipated next project with pan-India star Allu Arjun has created quite a stir among moviegoers.
Meanwhile, the long standing uncertainty surrounding ‘Kaithi’ sequel has been sparking unfounded speculations quite often due to his prolonged silence. As Allu Arjun’s film was announced, rumours mills quickly took over in the media and industry circles. It is widely believed that Lokesh ditched Kaithi 2 plans to work with Allu Arjun for higher remuneration.
Breaking his silence on all ongoing speculations, the Coolie director has finally opened up to clear the air about his upcoming commitments. Lokesh categorically quashed rumours about Kaithi 2 and asserted that the sequel will go on floors once he wraps up Allu Arjun’s film which will be his immediate next outing.
Lokesh also clarified that there is no truth in the reports that he shelved Kaithi 2 for the sake of remuneration. Talking about his much hyped LCU, he reiterated that Kaithi 2, Vikram 2 and Rolex are very much in the pipeline and will be completed at any cost.
He further opened up the much talked about Rajinikanth – Kamal Haasan project which was supposed to be initially helmed by him, but later saw a change in director. Lokesh said he worked on an action packed script for both the legendary superstars as they wanted him to direct a combo film after Coolie.
He said, “I worked sincerely on the script for one and a half months, and both of them liked it very much. However, since they had done several action films in their careers so far, they were expecting a light-hearted film. As I don’t know how to make a light-hearted film, so I honestly conveyed this to them and stepped out of the project.”
Lokesh stated that Kaithi 2 was delayed as Karthi signed other commitments in the mean time and as he has already promised to work with Mythri Movie Makers for Allu Arjun’s project. He is very confident on starting his LCU movies very soon after Allu Arjun’s project.
Even before the release of Coolie, Lokesh was very confident about the result. But failed to match the high expectations. So, if he really works on Kaithi 2 after completing Allu Arjun’s film, it will still garner significant hype for sure.
