iBOMMA Ravi Granted Bail, What’s Next?

Ibomma Ravi aka Emmadi Ravi is one of the controversial personalities in both the Telugu states. He was arrested in November last year on the charges of involvement in a large scale movie piracy.

However now, Telangana High Court granted him a conditional bail in this case. During their investigation, the police officials already gathered some crucial details of how the piracy network works.

Ravi floated a website under the name Ibomma where he used to screen movies of different languages on the release day itself. A lot of audiences sympathised with him amidst the scenarios where the producers hiked the movie ticket prices but offered unamusing content. Some of the netizens claimed him to be a Robinhood to which a lot of producers claimed objection.

In several instances, the film fraternity and some producers found faults with Ravi saying that he exploited film industry and he need not be worshipped as a hero. In the current scenario now, with Ravi coming out of prison, we have to see how the film industry would react to it.

Even when Ravi was in the jail, the piracy did not stop and even in the coming days, there won’t be any stopping because of the technological advancements. But if the officials can punish people like Ravi, others who want to take up similar paths will stop doing so.

Meanwhile, the court directed him not to leave the country and to surrender his passport. He must appear before the CCS police daily at 11 AM.
