Maruthi’s Next Move – ‘Happy Pongal’?

Director Maruthi hoped to make it big in the Pan-India Market with Prabhas’ Rajasaab. The movie ended up as a big disaster. Trolls pounced on Maruthi and unleashed a massive hate campaign which no other director has been subjected to in recent years.

As per our sources, Maruthi has already started working on a script titled ‘Happy Pongal’. It is a comedy entertainer, which is his strength, and he is currently scouting for a hero.

Varun Tej was one of his options but then, the actor committed a film with Committee Kurrollu Director Yadhu Vamsi in the production of his sister, Niharika.

A script titled ‘Happy Pongal’ obviously means releasing it for Sankranthi. But with Varun Tej, it may not be possible unless the actor agrees to shoot simultaneously. Shooting for two films simultaneously is another risk given the sluggish non-theatrical market.

So, it has to be seen how Maruthi handles this and who would be his next hero!

Maruthi’s last film Raja Saab was also released during Sankranthi, but it ended up as a disaster. This time, however, he is once again aiming for a Sankranthi release with his trademark entertainer, which is a positive sign.
