All eyes are on this year’s biggest box office scuffle which happens on March 19 as two most eagerly anticipated biggies set for a head-on clash. Interestingly, it is being projected as a fight between Bollywood and South cinema with highly awaited sequel Dhurandhar 2 taking on a pan-India action spectacle ‘Toxic : A Fairytale of Grown-Ups’.
With just over two weeks to go for this epic tussle, the advance sales in overseas territories are slowly getting started. And, the preliminary trade reports suggest that Dhurandhar 2 is way ahead of Toxic in terms of sale of tickets in USA so far. The Ranveer Singh starrer is clearly picking up and dominating the initial ticket bookings though the premiere shows are still 18 days to go.
As of this writing, Dhurandhar 2 registered advance sales worth $13 K while Toxic has clocked just $3 K in North America. The first part of Dhurandhar created history by hitting the $ 20 Million mark in this territory.
What is surprising is that despite there are hardly any promotions from the team, Dhurandhar 2 is turning out to be the first choice for overseas moviegoers. It seems like the sweeping success of the first part and the massive anticipation for the sequel are proving to be the selling points for the buzz among audiences.
On the other side, the makers of Yash’s Toxic are trying its best to overcome all controversies by releasing updates frequently to boost the hype further. The team has already unveiled two teasers and also regularly giving distribution updates to create hype in all languages due to its wide release all over the country.
Still, Dhurandhar : The Revenge is leading the race in terms of pre-release sales. It is a clear domination from Ranveer Singh as of now. It would be interesting to see how the face-off unfolds from now in the run-up to the release date.
Dhurandhar 2 is directed by Aditya Dhar and stars an ensemble cast. Toxic is helmed by Geetu Mohandas and boasts a massive star cast.
