Harish Denies ‘Ustaad’ Remake Rumours… But Too Late?

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar teamed up for the second time after their successful outing, Gabbar Singh. Titled Ustaad Bhagat Singh, there is a lot of confusion if the film is a remake or a straight film. However in a recent interaction, Harish Shankar made it clear that it is a straight film.

All this while, there is a mixed buzz surrounding the film because of the claim that it is a remake film. Usually, for big star flicks, the clarifications around confusions must arrive early. Otherwise, the consequences will be tough to face. Sometimes, the unnecessary misunderstandings also lead to disasters but this should not be the case with Ustaad.

Because of that mixed buzz, it has also become tough for movie business deals now. Even some fans are not getting excited for the movie’s content, being unsure if it is a straight film or a dubbed film. Ustaad is coming right after OG, and the buzz on the current film should have been extremely high.

Unfortunately, the buzz on the film is not upto the expectations of a Pawan Kalyan film. Maybe, after a couple of weeks, the buzz may grow but the team must strongly take the statement that Ustaad is a straight film to the public.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh is a long-pending project, and there have been a lot of speculations that it is the remake of the Tamil hit Theri. With Vijay playing a cop in the original and then, the film featuring two heroines, many drew comparisons that Theri is the original of Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Harish Shankar gave a clarity indirectly that it is a straight film.

“I am someone who proudly added “Maarpulu” my title card in Gabbar Singh, for the first time. Many did remakes but no one has ever done that. But for this film, I put my title card as Kathaa.. Matalu and Darsakatwam and do I need to answer more,” argued Harish in a recent interview, adding that the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star fight scene in Theri is inspired by his Antyakshari sequence in Gabbar Singh.

The present scenario could have been different if Harish responded to the speculations in the same strong manner during the film’s launch or when the film was in the shoot mode.

Being tight lipped in the past, that too, for Pawan’s film did generate mixed talk to the film’s buzz. Even today, many think that Ustaad is a remake film but we hope that the perspective of audiences towards the film changes at least now with Harish’s confirmation.
