Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, starring Salman Khan, has undergone significant changes even before its release. Initially conceptualized as a film based on the Galwan conflict, the project has now been heavily altered following inputs from authorities.
As per reports, the makers were advised to tone down sensitive elements, especially references related to China. In fact, the latest version of the film reportedly avoids directly mentioning China altogether.
To align with these changes, a substantial portion of the film has been reworked. Nearly 40% of the content was reportedly reshot, with additional emotional and backstory elements added to shift the narrative away from a purely conflict-driven approach.
The film, which was earlier titled Battle of Galwan, was also renamed to Maatrubhumi, reflecting a broader and more neutral storytelling angle. The intention now seems to focus more on patriotism, emotions, and human stories rather than direct geopolitical conflict.
However, these changes have also created uncertainty around the film’s release, as rumors about a direct OTT release are making the rounds. With such extensive modifications, it remains to be seen how the final version shapes up and connects with the audience.
