Director Sukumar, during one of the promotional events, stated that Mega Power Star Ram Charan delivered an even better performance in Peddi than in Rangasthalam. Charan, too, has repeatedly said at various events that Peddi would stand at the top of his filmography. Going by the response from the premiere shows, many believe he was absolutely right.
There are films that entertain, films that impress, and then there are films that belong entirely to their lead actor. Peddi falls firmly into the third category. While the film arrives with scale, emotion, sports drama, and all the commercial ingredients, the conversation after the premiere shows has revolved around one thing alone, Ram Charan’s astonishing transformation into Peddi.
From the moment he appears on screen, Charan sheds every trace of stardom and fully embraces the life of a rugged village man shaped by hardship and ambition. Rather than relying solely on larger-than-life heroics, he builds the character through body language, expressions, silences, and emotional vulnerability.
Across the various stages of the story and through different sporting disciplines, Charan delivers a performance filled with conviction and honesty.
The physical transformation is remarkable in itself, but it is the emotional commitment that truly elevates the portrayal. Audiences are not merely watching a character navigate challenges; they are experiencing those struggles alongside him.
The character feels so organic that viewers often forget they are watching one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars. That level of immersion has emerged as the film’s biggest talking point across premiere screenings.
Director Buchi Babu Sana deserves appreciation for crafting a protagonist with genuine emotional depth rather than relying solely on heroic elevation. The film’s final portions, in particular, have emerged as a major highlight among early viewers. The emotional payoff lands effectively, with Charan delivering some of the most heartfelt moments of his career.
Backed by impressive production values from Venkata Satish Kilaru and supported by a strong technical team, Peddi succeeds as a complete cinematic experience. Yet, even amid the spectacle, the soul of the film remains its leading man.
For now, one conclusion appears unanimous: Peddi may be the film’s title, but Ram Charan is its heartbeat.
