Bangaaram Strikes Gold, But Thangam Struggles To Shine!

Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaaram has emerged as a major success at the Telugu box office, posting impressive collections and receiving strong support from audiences. The film has especially performed well in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and overseas markets, reaffirming Samantha’s popularity among Telugu moviegoers.

However, the story is quite different in Tamil Nadu, where the film was released as Engal Thangam. Despite carrying decent expectations and Samantha’s strong fan following in the state, the Tamil version has failed to generate the desired momentum during its opening weekend.

Trade circles expected the film to post respectable numbers since the break-even targets were not particularly high. Unfortunately, occupancy remained below expectations, and the collections did not show the kind of growth that was anticipated.

Several factors are being cited for the underwhelming performance. One of the biggest reasons appears to be the lack of aggressive promotions in Tamil Nadu. Apart from a single promotional event, the film did not have a sustained marketing campaign to create awareness among audiences.

Another factor could be Samantha’s reduced presence in Kollywood over the last three to four years. While she remains a popular name, the gap between her recent Tamil releases may have affected the film’s reach among younger audiences.

That said, the film still has time to improve through positive word-of-mouth. While Maa Inti Bangaaram is striking gold in Telugu, Engal Thangam will need stronger audience support to turn things around in Tamil Nadu.
