LENIN First Reports: Akhil Impresses, Routine Story Holds It Back

LENIN – First Half – Nothing Novel

A typical rural backdrop film with a storyline that lacks novelty, execution which is very familiar and a not-so-impactful romantic track. However, the twist during the pre-interval was nicely done and keeps the audience waiting for a better second half.

Akhil put in a sincere effort but his character and most of the other characters did not leave any impact so far. Sivaji in a limited role so far, did his part well. Over to the second half now.

LENIN – Second Half – Better, But Not Enough

The second half is definitely an improvement over the flat first half. The characters opposing the hero and their motivations are presented much better, giving the narrative some much-needed momentum.

Akhil shows noticeable improvement and delivers a sincere performance with better emotional conviction in the latter half. Sivaji makes his presence felt whenever he appears, while Pramod Panju does a decent job.

Thaman’s background score works well in a few key moments.

Overall, the second half saves #LENIN from ending up as a completely underwhelming affair. While it recovers after the interval, the routine writing and familiar treatment prevent it from becoming anything more than an average outing.
