Wanted To Remain As Pure As Sita In My Thoughts: Sai Pallavi

The first public unveiling of Ramayana at New Delhi’s Pratham Sankalp ceremony became far more than a trailer preview. It evolved into an emotional celebration of faith, gratitude and responsibility, with Sai Pallavi , Ranbir Kapoor and Yash sharing heartfelt experiences from their journey on the film.

Among the evening’s most memorable moments was Sai Pallavi’s emotional reflection on portraying Maa Sita. The actress admitted that she never believed she had chosen the role. Instead, she felt the role had chosen her.

Calling it an immense blessing, Sai Pallavi explained that playing a divine character could never be approached like an ordinary performance. She said she constantly meditated during the shoot, praying that Sitamma herself would guide every emotion and expression on screen.

“I wanted to remain as pure as possible in my thoughts,” she shared, explaining that she wanted only the most honest version of herself to appear in the film. Pallavi added that the journey had become a spiritual learning experience that changed her personally while preparing her for one of Indian cinema’s most revered characters.

Ranbir Kapoor then delivered one of the evening’s most touching speeches. Beginning with chants of Jai Shri Ram and apologizing for wearing sunglasses because of an eye infection, the actor shifted everyone’s attention towards veteran Arun Govil.

Ranbir described Govil’s portrayal of Lord Rama as a lifelong source of faith and inspiration, saying generations had grown up seeing his face whenever they thought of Lord Rama. Addressing the veteran actor directly, Ranbir said that if he could portray even a small part of the truth and dignity that Govil embodied, he would consider himself successful.

His heartfelt tribute highlighted the immense responsibility of stepping into one of the most iconic roles in Indian culture.

Yash, who essays the mighty Ravana, offered a broader perspective on the significance of Ramayana. He described the film as a collective national dream where artists from different industries had united with one objective, to tell Shri Ram’s story on the global stage.

The actor praised producer Namit Malhotra’s vision and courage, saying the film exists because someone dared to dream on such an unprecedented scale.

Yash also lauded director Nitesh Tiwari for helping him understand every nuance of Ravana’s character before praising Ranbir Kapoor’s complete surrender to Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi’s extraordinary portrayal of Sita.
