‘CM Vijay’ Silently Ditched Jana Nayagan Buzz?

There was a time when Jana Nayagan was supposed to become one of the biggest openings in Tamil cinema. However, with just four days left for release, the film is not carrying the kind of heat that many had expected. The advance bookings too have started on a rather average note.

One of the major reasons appears to be the repeated postponements. Every delay took away a bit of the momentum and the film gradually lost the urgency that it once had among movie lovers.

At the same time, Vijay’s transition into full time politics could also be playing a role. Ever since taking charge as Chief Minister, he has been making headlines almost every day with administrative decisions, public meetings and political activities.

As a result, the spotlight has shifted from Vijay the actor to Vijay the Chief Minister. While this has strengthened his political image, it may have unintentionally diluted the excitement around Jana Nayagan.

The film still has everything going in its favour. It is Vijay’s final film before stepping away from cinema, and that emotional factor alone is enough to pull audiences to theatres.

However, the team cannot afford to remain silent at this stage. With only four days left, an aggressive promotional campaign is the need of the hour to bring back the lost momentum.

A solid second trailer or a powerful promotional video can completely change the game. If the makers manage to create one last wave of excitement before release, Jana Nayagan can still register the kind of opening that everyone expected from Vijay’s farewell film.
