Ramayana Trailer: Grand Scale But Needs Final Polish

After a long wait, the theatrical trailer of Ranbir Kapoor’s two part mythological adventure ‘Ramayana’ is finally out and the four minute glimpse gives a sneak peek into the ambitious attempt of director Namit Malhotra, who promises to exceed all expectations.

The trailer opens with the introduction of Yash, who plays the menacing Ravana. His formidable presence, long beard, detailed gold armor, and fiery gaze makes him look like a true king of demons. His terrific act sets the tone a grand retelling of this epic.

Then Ranbir Kapoor makes a majestic entry as Lord Rama. He looks divine with his charismatic screen presence and fitting expressions. The trailer highlights his journey from a gentle prince to a brave warrior, showing his natural grace even during intense battle scenes.

Talented actress Sai Pallavi as Sita brings great weight to the glimpse with her alluring presence. She fits the bill perfectly for the character and adds emotional strength to the narrative. The chemistry between Rama and Sita feels natural and dignified.

Other supporting actors like Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha add significant value to the cast with their impressive performances. Interestingly, the makers kept Hanuman’s role hidden in the trailer, possibly because they are planning a major reveal towards the climax, with the story set to continue in a two part saga.

The biggest takeaway is the background score which elevates the entire viewing experience. A unique collaboration between Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman creates a balance of modern orchestral beats and traditional music.

However, some visuals do not pass the muster especially considering the makers claim they made two parts with a monstrous budget of four thousand crore.

For a project of such a massive scale with so much money riding on it, the margin for error should be very little or else it will impact the theatrical prospects when the film hits the big screens. Moreover, the spiritual and emotional connect with viewers will be the biggest selling point for mythological dramas.

If the makers can polish the visuals in the final output and make sure that the story has emotional heft that keeps the audiences invested in the narration, both parts will definitely resonate with all sections across territories and create a box office havoc during the Diwali festival season.
